Enjoy Shooting in the Great Outdoors

Our Treaschwig Rd. location sales team consists of 11 knowledgeable and experienced shooters, hunters, avid gun enthusiasts and just all around great folks!  Our manager has been doing this his whole life, 44 years and counting, so he does it quite well!   Our staff has many years behind our sales counters, making Carter’s Country the best firearm shopping experience in Houston.   Whether you are looking to buy your first weapon, trick-out your AR-15, or are needing to fine tune your hunting rifle before deer season….we’ve got you covered.

Our shooting range safety personnel are also first-rate.  Many of our safety officers are fresh out of the military, knowledgeable and happy to help you on all of our ranges.   Carter’s Country is home to over 100 covered target shooting lanes, 5 skeet fields, and 2 trap fields.

In addition to our retail and Houston shooting range, we have an excellent gunwork department.  We do many things while-you-wait:  sight-ins, mount and bore-sights, sling & sling swivel installation, Tactical accessories installed…and you can drop off major problems and warranty repairs so that we can forward them to our gunsmith.

I had a great experience at Carter's range today. I shot skeet and I had the professional assistance of Keith he was very helpful and I recommend anyone to visit this range and they have tons of Shooting Supplies overall a very good experience! Ask for Keith when you're there he was very knowledgeable and gave me tips that helped me and I've been shooting for years already.

I have enjoyed using the Carters Country's Treaschwig location for over 40 years. My wife, daughters and I have all completed our CHL classes at Carters Country and these were some of the best classes I have ever attended. As a certified handgun instructor and an NRA, National Range Officer I understand the rules and guidelines that Carters Country is trying to enforce on their ranges. I must applaud the high level of safety they maintain for all of their customers as this is a huge undertaking. In several instances I have witnessed a number of in experienced gun owners coming into Carters Country with a passion to learn how to shoot. The staff has bent over backwards in working with new shooters or inexperienced shooters trying to teach them gun safety and the correct way to handle a loaded gun while on the range. I have never felt uneasy shooting on any of the ranges as their range officers have always been professional and operated with our safety in mind.Thank you Carters Country for a great place to enjoy shooting!

I've been a Carter's Country client for several years. Have bought firearms at the Spring store and I've hunted on their whitetail ranches in Laredo and Kerrville. Always great people to be with. I'm going to Cotton Mesa for an elk hunt this year so I went to the Spring location for advice on ammo and to fine tune my rifle. This was my first time to use the shooting range. Was a great experience. Nice facility and helpful range guides.

Good outdoor range and I like the fact they pause every 20min to clear the range and allow people to change their targets. I also took the CHL class and the instructor was good.

Staff mistakenly made offers that they shouldn't have. In an act of good faith owner honored what was originally offered. You can't beat that for customer service. I've been a satisfied customer for 23years.

When I want an outdoor range, this is where I go. It's somewhat far from my house, but the place is good. The rangemasters are always on top of things making sure everyone is safe. The costs for shooting are okay, but it seems the gun prices are a little high (I haven't checked them out in a few years though). I got my CHL here a few years back.

Looks really nice, has a woodsy feel to it that I appreciated. Plenty of amenities free to use such as a spotting scope, sandbags, and rifle rests. The bench was comfortable enough. I have two major gripes here though:1. The method used to hang targets is not stable at all. It works fine for people blasting away with semi autos, but for people shooting groups it just doesn't cut it. Having to wait for the target to sway back from being blown by the wind to take my next shot only to have it be blow forward again was frustrating and ruined what would have been the smallest group I've ever shot.2. The targets are overpriced and you can't bring your own. There's no excuse for this. Never been to a gun range that wouldn't let you bring your own targets. This is an anti-consumer practice and an obvious money grab. I'm sure people (including myself) just deal with it because it's the closest range in the area, but it's really not cool. The range I went to before moving to Spring charged $1 for 3 targets, whereas Carter's Country charges 75 cents per single target. Outrageous, considering I can buy bulk packs at Academy for way cheaper. I'd rather pay a slightly higher range fee and use my own targets.Other than those issues, my time spent there was great and was treated nicely and respectfully by all the employees I interacted with. Would recommend.

Facilities are nice enough, though I wish they would keep the chicken wire they use to post targets in a little better condition. Sometimes it's so shot up and warped that it's difficult to attach my target on straight. It'd also be nice if handgun fees weren't so much, especially since they charge either per gun or per person (whichever is greater). $30 for 2 people + targets or I can easily go over to Hotwells, who charges $10/gun flat rate with nicer handgun facilities.RSO's all come off as knowledgeable and do a great job at keeping everyone safe and enforcing the rules.I haven't purchased any firearms here, but they have a great selection and the ammo prices are pretty fair compared to other places around.

Typical of knowledgeable firearms enthusiasts - "hold it like this, sight like that, and proper...". I'm not a gun Smith, nor do I shoot in competition, but I know them inside & out, for the most part. That said, these guys are good - very knowledgeable of firearms & their inventory. Quick visit, but wish to probably buy soon. Prices are at & just below the retails I've watched.God Bless Mr. Carter. I just heard we lost him - he was a great guy. Sorry for your loss! *11/16/18

Hunting Video Games vs. Real Life

Texas Deer Hunting With Carter’s Country

In the early 70’s a trip to Carter’s Country with my older brother, a former Marine and Vietnam Vet, was much more than just an opportunity to prove my marksmanship to my hero. I knew if I did, it would expedite my opportunity to go hunting with him and get to sit...

Texas Dove Hunting 2018

Dove hunting in Texas has many fans for many reasons. It’s fun, it can be relatively inexpensive, grilled dove is delicious and a dove hunt in early September is a great chance to see just how much you can actually sweat while wearing camouflage, just in case...

Snake!!!

The dumbest thing anyone could ever say to me is “Don’t move! There’s a snake!”. Although it is technically good advice, there is no way I’m staying still if I know I’m near a snake. Call me a sissy, a girly man or pretty much anything you want. The fact is,...

Texas Hog Hunting

Now is a great time to try your hand at hog hunting. Spring turkey season is wrapping up and it will be a while before dove, duck and deer season come back around. In the meantime that leaves hogs as a Texan’s most viable hunting option. Texas has more hogs than...
